
A big, 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean on Saturday night time, triggering a tsunami warning throughout a lot of the area, together with Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Honduras and Cuba.
The quake struck 209 kilometers (about 130 miles) south-southwest of Georgetown, Cayman Islands, at 6:23 native time, in line with the U.S. Geological Survey. The warning was lifted for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands about 9 p.m. native time. Honduras and Cuba had been nonetheless on alert.
Cuba’s seismological institute mentioned that the quake was felt in western components of the island, together with within the province of Cienfuegos and Isla de la Juventud.
